Peter Case was born in 1940 at Hertford, England, and spent 10 years at Summerhill as a pupil (1946-56). He graduated in 1964 as a mechanical engin-eer at Hatfield Polytechnic and obtained a doctorate in fluid dynamics at Liverpool University in 1971. From 1968 till 1977 he was employed as a mech-anical engineer in German industry, and from 1977 till early 1980 worked as house husband.
