Rajendra Kumar is a psychologist by occupation but has been immersed in literary writing since the age of 12. He published stories, poems, and essays in his mother tongue, Hindi, until coming to the United States where he primary produced psychological research papers. After retiring from Arizona State Department of Corrections as a psychologist, he has gone back to literary writing. He published his first novel "The Devils and the Damned" in 2009 which dealt with the issue of white supremacists in the US prisons. His new publication, a collection of short stories, "Memories of a Distant Star (Love Stories from Heaven and Hell)" focuses on human relationships which are sometimes tender and heartwarming but at other times can be brutal and heart-wrenching. Another collection of short stories (yet to be titled) is expected to be published within the next year which focuses on the follies of man-made institutions, such as religion, government, social classes, which were created for the benefit of man but have led to widespread human suffering. A novel "Catch a Wild Horse and..." tells a tragic love story and exposes prison dysfunction. It is still being written. The author believes that writing is primarily about ideas, not just entertainment, and most of his ideas are unconventional. See less
