S. Shanmugavel graduated from Madras Institute of Technology in Electronics and Communication engineering in 1978. He obtained his Ph.D degree in the area of coded communication and spread spectrum techniques from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, in 1989. S. Shanmugavel graduated from Madras Institute of Technology in Electronics and Communication engineering in 1978. He obtained his Ph.D degree in the area of coded communication and spread spectrum techniques from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, in 1989. He joined as faculty in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at IIT, Kharagpur, as a Lecturer in 1987 and became an Assistant Professor in 1991. Later, he joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, Chennai India and retired on superannuation as Professor in 2014. He served as Director, Centre for Af liation and as Registrar at Anna University, Chennai for four years. Presently he is working as Principal at National Engineering College, Kovilpatti. He has published more than 110 research papers in National and International Conferences and 70 research papers in referred journals. He has guided 20 Ph.D scholars in the area of Wireless Communication, Mobile Adhoc Networks and ATM Networks. He received IETE-CDIL award in 2000 and IETE-SK Mitra award for the best paper published in IETE Journal of research in the year 2004. He visited University of Central Florida, University of Illinois and Nebraska University in USA under TEQIP. He led the Anna University delegation to various universities and R&D laboratories in France, Japan and Switzerland. See less
