Volker H. Schmidt is Associate Professor of Sociology at the National University of Singapore. Before joining NUS in 2000, he held teaching and research positions at the Universities of Mannheim and Bremen, respectively, and in 1997/98 he was a J.F. Kennedy Memorial Fellow at the Center for European Studies, Harvard University.
