This text offers an introduction to the theoretical bases of producing topographical maps and deals largely with the mathematical concepts used in the production of such maps from near vertical aerial photographs. For this new edition, the chapters on analytical photogrammetry, the formation and adjustment of blocks, and auxiliary instruments for providing control data have been rewritten to take account of the recent considerable advances in instrumentation. A number of new photographs of equipment have been added.
