Differences in culture does not change the human heart. The author gave us a look at the lives of a Japanese family before during and after WWII. We are all human beings with the same needs, desires and abilities to love and share love. This family shared their love and respect for one another through a difficult time. Great look at the Japanese culture! Wonderful book!
