The title says it all. If you're looking to begin moving toward an off-grid experiment, this book should be in your library. I first saw this book in the 1980's and managed to make several photocopies of important sections. Then the book became "unobtanium"... until the internet. Now, there are copies floating around in stores that have online sales and this gem is once again obtainable!
The basic wiring info, system design info, and safety info is invaluable. The actual "tech" has changed greatly over the years, but this is a great example of true DIY and on a budget! The surprising thing at the time the book was written, was that the author powered the remote cabin he was living in with an expanded battery bank in his car which he recharged during his daily work commute. Excellent "out of the box" thinking for its day.
