Jane was a service that helped women in need receive an abortion when the practice was still illegal. This book looks at the members that risked their freedom to help these women. The book discusses that the organization was called Jane so is people over heard they would think the conversation was about a person, not an underground organazation. Jane was also the first service to use an answering machine.
This is a wonderful book, written about the brave individuals who worked in Jane. An important peice of history, which few books write about in such a straight forward manner. This is a book well worth reading.
