David Morrell steps away from the spy genre which Ipersonally feel he has redefined and raised the bar several notches on, to write this amazing psychological thriller. The book is on the surface appears to be about the lives of professional "protectors", but that is only the surface. The book digs down deep into the human brain dipping into moral aspects of lives involved either voluntarily or not with violence. Yet stays exciting and fast paced all the way through. Not the slightest bit predictable, the book changes directions as often as it changes beautiful landscapes. Love, death, philosophy, past lives, present lives, and even the science of human memory are all touched on in this non stop action adventure. A cover to coverthrill ride. One of David Morrell's best.
