Surely your sellers have priced this book to move. This is the kind of volume you find for a dollar down on Canal St. Americans, (and particularly commercial Chefs,) are not likely to get much out of it, except as a means of comparing our lifestyles. Provence, it seems, must be full of wild edibles, ravished tourists and four-star eateries. Peter Mayle's candid intro was an unexpected 'set-up,' offering the reader few condolences for a sadly 'rained-out' holiday picnic.
Seversal of the author's suggestions are sound. For instance, I've doubled the size of the herb garden this year, and I promise to use scissors on fine, but spindly herbs. (Duh!) A couple of these color photos might be nice to see in frames, but should I slash it with an X-acto, and discard the text, as if it were just another edition of Southern Living, or Elle?
