Between two members of a sentence, one or both of which are sub-divided by a number of commas. Example: --The grounds are near Catonsville, within twenty minutes' walk of the C. & S. terminus, consisting of thirty-five acres of excellent farming land; the house contains eight rooms with all modern improvements, and was built less than four years ago. 5. Between expressions in a series which are not connected, but which have a common dependence upon another clause, either at the beginning or end of a sentence. Examples: --He sold the wheat at 90 cts. per bushel; the oats at 50 cts.; the corn for 40 cts.; the potatoes for 3 5 cts. The growth of the public school system; the development of natural resources; the investment of large amounts of capital in manufacturing industries; all have contributed to the material prosperity of our country.
