This book was recommended to me by a friend. I found it very practical and it made me realise how important my role as a parent is, in ways that I had not even considered before. It's very easy to read and full of relevant, practical information. She's gives a wonderful picture of what God wants a family to be.

Family life is never easy
Family life in our culture is never easy. There is much to decide about how to manage life in the family. What constitutes family is a fluent concept in current American culture. Edith Schaeffer does a great job in describing the complexities of family life and thoughts from her experience of being a mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother to this book. Her writing style is very conversational and this book is easily read in short pieces snatched in the midst of a busy life. I often felt as I was reading that I was having a conversation with the author. She discusses what has worked for her and other familly members, but also knows that different families will have different approaches to the same issues. This is not a book that gives a "5 steps to bliss" approach, but gives ideas to try and offers discussion on ways to look at different issues. I do recommend this book.
