Ian McKenzie is currently retired from full-time work. After working as a high school Health and Physical Education teacher, in the 1970's he resigned from the Education Department and became Physical Director and later Executive Director of a capital city YMCA. Ian McKenzie is currently retired from full-time work. After working as a high school Health and Physical Education teacher, in the 1970's he resigned from the Education Department and became Physical Director and later Executive Director of a capital city YMCA. In the 1980's and 1990's he owned and operated his own inner city adult health and fitness facilities. He was Exercise Physiologist to the National Heart Foundation (Queensland branch) and conducted their "Fit to Live" program for adults who were at risk of developing cardio-vascular disease (CVD) and their "2,000 Turtles" program for those who had suffered from CVD. He developed and ran, as Exercise Physiologist, the first post myocardial infarction program with Divisions of General Practice in Australia, and the first program to be run by a Division of General Practice in collaboration with a major public hospital. He has had a life-time interest in education and health. Ian McKenzie has two mature aged daughters. One is a Pharmacist at a major public hospital and the other is an Obstetrician/Gynaecologist in private practice. See less
