I've been a fan of Anita Shreve from the first book I read and I grab each new novel with the same anticipation of being swept away. This novel is no exception. She shocks as she spins her tale that sounds so authentic that parents will hold their collective breath when they have to send their kids off to college. A nice blend of nail biting suspense and pathos. I highly recommend it.

Thought-provoking
Really makes you ponder because it could, and probably has, happened. My sister is having her teenage son read it.

A Book for Now
Written with the many voices of the participants and observers, the reader learns a little more each step of the way. The last sentence of the book is a very telling one and the reader is no longer an oberserver but forced to think about how these things can happen and what it may take to unleash what's inside all of us.

Sex, Lies and Videotape
Anita Shreve has written an absorbing story which is very relevant in this age of video and sex scandals. At a prestigious private high school, 3 prominent Senior boys and 1 underage freshman girl are caught on tape performing acts that were once considered to be very private. When this tape surfaces, the repercussions are overwhelming to all concerned - headmaster, parents, students and even the town. Anita Shreve, once again, writes of the dark side of human nature and how one moment or lapse of judgement can change the course of lives.
