Our books are new and gently used, for readers of all ages and interests. We have fiction and nonfiction; from science to science fiction and fantasy; from mysteries to world history. Our community is very involved with farming, equine activities and pets, so our stock reflects that interest also.

Second Chapter Books independent & women owned, opened in a small Virginia town December, 2010. With the closing of the town's bookstore, we saw a gaping hole in the landscape of our community. We grew and expanded, then in order to keep a promise that one of the owners could retire from her third career on her 80th birthday, we began the process of looking for new owners. with no success, in September 2022, we decided to move the remaining stock home. Now we serve local customers and we sell at Alibris. Our stock is diversified in subject & reading levels. We have children's and adult books in many genres. Even our previously owned books are gently used, in very good to fine condition.
